History
The Documentation Centre/Archive of the Wool Museum of UBI was created in 1997, in the scope of the communitarian project ARQUEOTEX (FEDER 10, Vertente Cultura), and it was inaugurated in April 30th, 1998. Its creation aimed to safeguard the wool industry memory and to support the research development, specially in the domains of the textile industrial and business-related history, at a local, regional and national level.

Attribuitions
The Documentation Centre/Archive aims to proceed to the goods acquisition (as a purchase, a payment, a depot, a donation, a legacy, an exchange and a gathering), preservation, organisation and communication of archivistic, bibliographical and textile nature, of any type and support about the general theme of the textile/wool activity sector, with origin in several public or private entities. Besides this aim, it seeks the incorporation of all the documentation that is not directly or indirectly related to the textile industry, can help to know more about aspects linked to the research about the textile industry, as well as the information resulting from the Museum research.Other museums and documentation centres.
